Men's teams open Leicestershire league with wins

Both of Leicester City Men's teams opened their Leicestershire League accounts with victories on Saturday at St Margaret's Pastures.

The Men's 1s beat Leicester Men's 3s 7-0, (goals from Egan-Rayner 2, Sibson 2, Worral, Taitt, and Sinclair), before the Men's 2s came from behind to win 5-2 against Market Harborough 3s (Magill 2, Saund 2, Mistry).

Elsbeth Woodgate, Men's Coach, said: "It's fantastic to have competitive hockey here in the city centre once again after so long in lockdown.

"Both teams played really well and I'm pleased to see we scored some really good goals.

"Hopefully we can carry this on for the rest of our matches".

In the wake of a null and void Midlands league, the Men's teams are competing in a local league every Saturday until June.

The three-tier league structure each features six teams from across Leicestershire, with the 1s in Division 2 and the 2s in Division 3.

It provides an ideal opportunity to return to competitive matches in a friendly setting after the local lockdowns in Leicester, as well as try out new players and formations ahead of next season.
