Ladies 1s Defeat University of Durham

Leicester hosted an inform University of Durham team on Saturday who were flying high in the league. As expected Durham brought a fast and competitive style to the early parts of the game. They were pressing high to win the ball and looked to their influential players to carve out chances but Leicester showed determination and energy to keep them out.

Durham did take the lead in the match through a direct ball into the D finding a Durham attacker who calmly slotted home. Leicester however soon hit back and after a short corner was well saved it was Liz George who pounced on the rebound to lift the ball over the keeper.

Leicester then grew in confidence and had several more opportunities to stretch their lead whilst minimising the Durham attacking threat. Leicester took the lead 2-1 thanks to Jeorgia Carr scoring from a well worked short corner.

The score remained 2–1 as Leicester held out following a late short corner attempt from Durham.

Next week the ladies travel to Belper looking to match this excellent performance and effort.
