Coffee Disaster Doesn't Stop Seconds
- By Paul Lineham
Following a couple of great results, the Seconds visited Birmingham early on Saturday (22 February) morning to take on Edgbaston.
The day started badly as my coffee splattered on the car park and it got worse as the next coffee shop didn't open till after push back and finally, we took 10 minutes before we woke up and realised we had a game to play.
However, from that point on we pretty much controlled things, restricting Edgbaston to attacks on the break. Emma had a good game and made some critical saves. Carys, Ellie, Gemma, Sarah and Anna marshalled things at the back with little fuss and going forward everyone contributed. We could have scored more. Harriet, Alice, Margot and Kitty kept our forward momentum throughout the game. Sophie, Roshni, Maisie and Sandy provided the pace and aggression that maintained the pressure on the opposition defence.
The first goal was a little fortuitous. A ball bobbling around at the back post for Sophie to tuck away. The second swiftly followed with Harriet scoring from a short corner. Edgbaston nicked one back before Sandy sealed the game.
A very competent performance and everyone having played well and continued our positive run.
