Dominant Threes Seal Goalless Draw
- By Caitlin Pittham
Leicester’s third team played against a strong Loughborough University team on Sunday 9 March, yet were incredibly dominant throughout the game.
The talented side managed to maintain the play in their scoring half of the pitch for the majority of the game, and created numerous chances on goal. However due to lack of ability to score, failed to put any balls in the back of the net. Throughout the expectantly tough game, Leicester managed to display some excellent skills and really put into practice what we have been doing in training, the runs toward goal were excellent, elimination skills were incredible and fluidity of play immense, the only thing lacking was a goal.
The game disappointingly finished 0-0 despite having deserved to win, and having about 47 attacking penalty corners and a number of close misses on goal (and Kat nearly killing Karen with a ball).
Overall, Sunday’s performance was definitely one to be proud of and everyone walked away from the game beaming after a truly dominant and talent-filled performance from an excellent team against the top of the table side. Now let’s work on scoring some goals, well done girls for an incredible game and thank you to Paul for umpiring, David for stepping in and coaching and Cas for being superwoman as always as manager.
Man of the Match: Kat for her excellent play, positioning and stick skills.
Muppet: Caitlin for that weird dance around the ball we all saw when she messed up that short corner injection.
Team: Rhiannon, Katie, Elsbeth, Elise, Sarah M, Annie, Kat, Sarah R, Karen, Jodie, Charlotte, Sian, Nicola, Caitlin, Josie and Sophie
