Clean Sheet For Fives Against Market Harborough Threes

- By Gaynor Nash

After conceding too many goals for our liking in recent weeks, the Fifths managed a clean sheet in their latest outing against Market Harborough third team.

The game was pretty much end-to-end with several goal scoring opportunities, but both 'keepers had good games; Aleena keeping up her good form and confidence, stepping higher in the circle and denying time to the attackers.

Neelam was making her debut for us and showed some great close stick skills that will prove very useful in weeks to come.

Aman had a great game up front, working across the pitch and getting into good scoring positions but just failing to find the target. The opposition chose her as our Player of the Match. Her hockey has really progressed, testimony to the blossoming partnership between the club and De Montfort University. Lottie, playing only her second league game had a cracking match at right defence.

Credit too should go to the old girls in defence; Rosemary, Jane and Hazel showed good timing against quick opponents and the wisdom of a combined 194 years to help Aleena and Lottie keep a clean sheet.

Helen, Joy, Lydia and Eleanor ran their socks off and the other squad member got a green card. I wonder who that was...

Squad: Aleena, Lottie, Rosemary, Hazel, Jane, Neelam, Helen (c), Gaynor, Eleanor, Lydia, Joy, Aman.
