Youthful Twos Side Edged Out By Telford

- by Paul Lineham

A mixed Leicester Ladies Twos side saw four debutants take to the field and a number of senior players missing on Saturday 1 February against Telford.

Leicester started brightly enough but quickly found themselves pegged back 1-0.

Throughout the remainder of the first half, despite the odd break here and there, City defended bravely and with a fair degree of quality, but invited more and more offensive pressure. Half-time, Leicester were down 1-0.

The second half saw a resurgence, despite conceding a second within a couple of minutes. The younger players started to offer more and off the back of it Leicester dominated the second half.

With 20 minutes to go Leicester had scored one in reply; a tap-in off the post from Roshni (whose skip and dance was recorded for us all to enjoy for eternity).

City controlled the half, frequently found themselves in the circle but failed to create clear chances for the equaliser.

Upon reflection, Leicester may have deserved more from the game. The team certainly saw that there are players across the club they can start to lean on in Twos’ games and with a couple of additional senior players to support them, Leicester may have emerged with more from the game.

Squad: Emma, Anna, Carys, Megan, Elsbeth, Gemma, Bella, Caitlin, Sian, Etta, Roshni, Simran, Sarah and Harriet
