Fives Fall To 2-0 Defeat

Leicester 5ths welcomed Market Harborough 2s to St. Margaret’s Pastures on 16 November, with the visitors fresh from a 19-0 win the previous weekend!

We were a mix of revered antiquity, youthful exuberance and a couple of inbetweeners. The game began evenly with both sides looking sharp in attack but it was Harborough who went ahead when a forward was left with time and space and slotted the ball past Aleena in goal.

We hit back attacking well down the right with Helen and Lydia combining beautifully. From one move Helen’s pass almost put Joy in but her sharp shot flashed narrowly wide.

Against the run of play they went further ahead. Aleena made a good save but we didn’t really help out and from the rebound Harborough doubled their lead for a 2-0 score line.

The second half saw more pressing from Harborough but we always looked dangerous. Lydia worked as hard as ever and Helen’s forays down the right earned her the Player of the Match nomination form Harborough. Aleena made some good stops and we made sure that Harborough didn’t add more goals but couldn’t snatch one ourselves.

Nonetheless, an enjoyable game, a good debut from Olivia Glover and November shame at all in a 2-0 loss.

Squad: Aleena, Alexia, Hazel, Rosemary, Jane, Olivia, Gaynor, Sophie, is Helen, Lydia, Joy, Eleanor, Anastasia
