After a disappointing start to the league last week, Leicester had their first home match to put things right and earn some valuable points.
As ever East Grinstead present a tough challenge and will never give points up easily.
Early on both teams had chances in front of goal however this week it was Leicester who were first to strike through a well taken penalty corner from Katie Long. Leicester ended the first half in front.
As predicted East Grinstead came out hard in the second half, increasing the pressure and earning themselves many penalty corners. However the Leicester defence stayed strong and at times put bodies on the line to protect the lead. 10 minutes from time Leicester broke and earned a penalty corner of which Phoebe Willars found the back of the net putting the game to bed.
A great team performance in front of a home crowd and most importantly putting 3 points in the bag!

It was a case of 'honours even' between Leicester Ladies 2s and Belper ladies at Great Glen on Saturday.
Despite the heavy rain, both teams contributed to a thrilling end to end match with a draw possibly being a fair result. Every member of Leicester's team played their part...The defence worked as a strong unit under some intense pressure from the Belper ladies with Steph Tirrell making several great saves.
The mid field worked tirelessly in both defence and attack even when they were a player down as Jess was green carded for a strong case of over exuberance! The front line battled really hard against a great Belper defence winning several short corners but failed to convert on this occasion.
The game was just about the most exciting 0-0 you could wish for. Leicester never gave up, it was a great team effort

The day started off with the 3s kicking off a day of 4 out of the 5 teams playing on home turf. We warmed up with shots fizzing and feeling good about this match!
We started the match with some strong attacks and working well within defence to keep the ball away from our D! With the chances coming and the shots being fired onto both posts with no avail, we finally managed to get the goal with a beautiful flick with composure by Siobhan after the keeper had logged! We kept the pressure onto Charnby and managed to keep it in their half. A short corner was given with a flick being awarded with a foot on the line by a defender. Annie calmly took the flick aiming top corner and succeeding making the score 2-0!
A team talk and positive communication after half time gave us the drive to try and get more goals for this half. Another flick was given with Siobhan stepping up to the plate. The flick was sent to the left of the keeper with a great stick save keeping the score 2-0. After keeping the intensity and pressure onto the defence Maisie scored an amazing reverse goal into the back of the goal. With another goal from Annie we made it 4-0, but there was still more hunger in the Leicester team within the final 10 minutes and final attacks the ball was worked by Nat onto the baseline and crossed to Emily on the penalty spot who calmly slotted it past the keeper!
With 2 from 2 games and no goals conceded, we are top of the league!!
MOM from Charnby was the keeper who made some amazing amazing saves!

The 4ths played against Hinckley in our second league match of the season.
They had recently been relegated so we were expecting a tough match however Hinckley only had 10 players so we knew we were in with a chance. The warm up, led by captain Abi, had the team raring to go. Hinckley dominated from the start but everyone got stuck in and kept the scoring chances at a minimal. The defence played really well with Marion, Georgia, Anna G, Jane and Jenny all making great tackles and saves from Kerry kept the scoreline at 0-0. In the first half we had two short corners created by fantastic play in the 23 from the forwards and the midfielders. The first one, injected by Emma S, led to a powerful strike from Caitlin which unfortunately deflected off the defender’s stick, hitting Abi in the face. Anna K then got a harsh green card for not being 5 metres and the teams were equal in number for a short while (with the green card came 2 minutes off and the punishment of the match report!).
We played well with attacks down the left with Jenny, Katie, Emma M, Caitlin and Chiara all linking up. Kerry saved some amazing shots and the whole team continued to play excellently for the rest of first half but no goals were scored.
The second half started strong with quick passing leading to opportunities up front but no one could score. Shots flew in from Claire, Chiara, Caitlin, Emma M and Rachel but all were saved or just wide of the post. We had lots of short corners but they were often cleared wide. The pitch was slippery which meant that Emma S, Rachel, Caitlin, Chiara and Abi all ended up on the floor.
Lots of pressure was put onto Hinckley such that for the last ten minutes nearly all the players were in the Hinckley 23 including Georgia who was playing centre back. The whole team put in their best efforts however no one scored with the match ending 0-0. The player of the match went to Georgia who played extremely well. Thank you to Dave for coaching.

Leicester 5ths bounced back from a loss in the season opener to beat Roundhill 3-0 with goals from Lydia Cross (2) and newcomer Lauren Ellis. The first half was all Leicester with Charlotte Parker in the Leicester goal a spectator. Indeed, Leicester should really have scored more than the three but all were well taken from close in and were down to the persistence of first Lydia and then Lauren who should be delighted with her reverse stick effort.
The second half brought a change in goal for Roundhill and the play became more even with Charlotte making some smart saves. At the other end Alex Peet came close on several occasions and Jennifer Pollock was a frequent threat with strong running.
The game finished 3-0 to Leicester with Lydia Cross voted Player of the Match by Roundhill.
Team: Charlotte Parker, Alexia Scudamore, Rachael Curley, Hazel McSweeney, Sophie Vincent, Jane Cottrell, Emma York, Jennifer Pollock, Sarah Levy (C), Gaynor Nash, Alex Peet, Lauren Ellis, Joy York, Lydia Cross.
